Tonight I made dinner over a friend’s house and we ate, watched the Red Sox replay and figured out some stuff for the community tennis lessons we’ve been doing.
When I got home I felt like I hadn’t done any exercise at all today, so I went for a quick run. It was nice but it made me realize how dark my neighborhood is unless people have their lampposts on. I was glad to have my handy reflective belt on for safety.
Time: 12:19
Distance: 1.3 miles.
Rode my bike to Island Grove today. It’s a town park with a swimming “pool” area from the lake. Considered swimming there but it was way too crowded withh little kids for me. Maybe earlier in the mornings….4.8 miles there and back, 24 minutes bike time.
Also rode down the street and back to pick up lunch. Gotta save gas!
And played tennis for about an hour and a half or so. My legs are way tired since they’re not used to tennis lately. Afterwards almost everyone there was going over to the track to run or walk…So I went to and did a quick mile in 9:36.
I’m up New Hampshire at our summer house for the week so I’m not sure when i’ll be posting.
Went for a short kayak and then about 6 mile bike ride with my mom earlier today.
Did the triatlon today. It was super foggy. I was up around 5:30am, got to the race parking around 6:45. Biked 1.5 miles to the transition/race area. Got set up, waited forever, had to pee forever, swam, hit up the porta potty during T1 (who cares if it killed my transition time, I had to!), biked 12 miles, then ran and finished. Photos to come later.
Came home and put stuff away and was feeling fine. Eventually got some food, relaxed. Then crashed- I was SO tired! Took a 2 hour nap from 5-7pm.
Finally got the race results online. I didn’t look for them at the race because it was too crowded. I did really well i the swim part, sucked at the bike (expected) and did pretty well during the run (just about 3 minutes longer than my 5K race time).

Did the Hanover 5K today, didn’t run all out as I wanted to save energy for tomorrow’s race. I actually ran with a friend who was doing her first 5K so it was cool. I enjoyed it, I hope she did! Time was around 32 min.

Finally picked up my bike! Yay. It is so much easier to ride than the Huffy I had. Well, easier to pedal…I’m still getting used to the dropped handlebar and lower profile positioning. I think I’ll be faster on it though. I went for a quick 3 miles and did it in 12 min. I gotta say, the Huffy was a good trainer. Maybe I’ll keep training with it sometimes.
Picked up my race registration packet today also. got my number (458). bought some elastic shoelaces so I don’t have to tie mine tomorrow. EVerything’s packed and set. Batteries are charging for the camera tomorrow. Clothes are ready to go. here we go!!……
I’m far behind on posting my training and I’m behind on training. I guess I could be concerned about it, but I’m not all that worried.
People write about “tapering” in the week before their event. Instead of doing 5 miles they run 3 miles and so on. Just easing off. Well I don’t taper. I just stop. Not on purpose mind you, but life seemed to have other things to throw at me.
In other news, tomorrow, the day before my triathlon, I will be a) running a 5K race and b) oh…PICKING UP MY BIKE FOR THE TRIATHLON. I really hope I can get comfortable on it with one quick ride tomorrow evening.
I do plan on eventually posting my training sessions, but that won’t be until sometime next week. When I do, I’ll try to date them so they show up correctly here on Tumblr, but the RSS just pumps them out when they get written, even if it’s the incorrect order.
I was in New Hampshire last week with limited internet and now I’m in Wyoming on a job interview so I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to report my training progress.
Wed: biked. 30 minutes. I think the distance was 6.2 miles but it’s not verified. Then did a quick 6 minute run (over to a swimming hole, jumped in to cool off, and then honme again).
Thur: ran. about 3.1 miles in 35 minutes. 3 x 3 min intervals.
Fri: never got around to swimming because I was trying to get everything set for the job interview in WY.
Sat: squeezed in a quick bike ride: I don’t know the exact info, it’s on my calendar at home. About 45-50 minutes though, probably 6-7 miles.
Sun: Long run. 50 minutes, 4.84 miles according to my pedometer which may or may not be right. it was a beautiful run along the North Platte River Parkway. I have pics but they won’t load onto this computer right now.
Today is about the 4th day in a row of 90+ degree + high humidity weather around here. It would have been a great day to swim no matter where. Unfortunately I don’t have a pool, so I usually use the MDC (state park) swimming pool in the next town. It was recently re-done and it’s pretty nice, and most importantly it’s free.
Today I was all set to swim and cool down. I didn’t have a chance to get over there until about 7:30, but when I did, it was closed with no sign or notices or anything. I wasn’t very pleased.
By the time I got home it was fairly dark. I’m avoiding running because I need to bike or swim train more and want to rest my legs when I can. But it was too dark to bike so I got no exercise today. Boo to that.
Today was a scheduled rest day. No training. There was a fit camp class but I skipped it because I had a stomach ache.
This morning I did a fit camp with Rob. Wow, it was hot. It was just me, Angela, Kevin and Rob.
Then this evening I did a run. It was supposed to be 40 minutes but I did 33 minutes because I finished too quickly. I kind of ran of out places to run and was home. Plus I was super hot because I’m not used to running in this heat.
